Winter Formal: Outside dates are welcome for the winter sports formal on February 10th,  but must be approved by Mr. Whitney. Forms are available from Ms. Herman or Mrs. Harrison in the office. Forms are due to Mr. Whitney by noon on Wednesday, February 7th. Please see Ms. Herman with any questions.

 

Dance Tickets:  Dance tickets will be on sale all week during lunches. They are $6 each and must be purchased in advance. The dance will be on Saturday, February 10th from 8-11. You must arrive by 8:30 and will not be allowed to leave until 10:30. Any questions, see Ms. Herman.

 

Forensics: Hayden Forensics had another great weekend at Washburn Rural. Rachel Grollmes placed 2nd in Prose and Ann Stegman placed 2nd in Poetry. Both qualified for state. Cade Dennis placed 5th in Dramatic Interp. Marcel Pryor placed 5th in Impromptu. Cece Davidson, James Nioce, Marcel Pryor and Hannah Hiszczynskyj placed 6th in their events.

Overall we had 7 students place in 9 events and the team brought home a third place sweeps victory. Congratulations!

 

Wrestling: The Centennial League Wrestling Tournament was held this past weekend at Topeka West. Congratulations to Nick Haberkorn for a 3rd place finish at 170 pounds.  

 

Spring Musical: Tickets for the Hayden Theater production of “Merrily We Roll Along” are now on sale. Tickets are $15 for reserved seating and $10 for general admission. Tickets may be purchased online at haydentheater.org or at all A-day lunches. Discounted tickets for Hayden students can be purchased at lunches only for $7.50.

 

Spirit Week:  The theme for this year’s winter sports is #rave. Please use good judgment in choosing outfits for this fun week. If you are not dressing up for the spirit days, you must be in full uniform. Tuesday will be” retro day”, pick a favorite decade and represent the best from the past.

Candidates:  Our first king candidate is Jett Canfield.  Jett is the son of Jordan and Eileen Canfield and is a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary parish.  Jett’s accomplishments include basketball-4 years, basketball newcomer of the year in centennial league-1 year, basketball all state 4A division 2 second team- 1 year, basketball all city first team-1 year, basketball all city second team-1 year, basketball all league second team-2 years, football-1 year, golf-1 year, Mark community leader-1 year, 2017 Topeka Peace and Justice Youth Award winner, 2018 Living the Cream Company Youth Award winner, superior honor roll-4 years, NHS-3 years, Hayden Award-2 years, YRA founder and president-4 years, rowdy bunch leader-1 game.

 

Our first queen candidate is Madison Ellis.  Madison is the daughter of Frank and Vicki Ellis and is a member of Christ the King parish.  Madison’s accomplishments include volleyball-4 years, volleyball all academic first team-2 years, volleyball all city honorable mention-1 year, volleyball state champion-3 years, basketball-4 years, basketball state runner up-1 year, basketball sub-state champion-1 year, basketball all city honorable mention-1 year, softball-1 year, softball regional champion-1 year, soccer-3 years, soccer regional champion-1 year, soccer all city honorable mention-1 year, NHS-3 years, superior honor roll-3 years, honor roll-1 year, Luke community leader-2 years.
